Demands to protect supporters of Palestine from far-right attacks in France News

French politicians and activists demanded that supporters of Palestine be protected from repeated attacks and threats, especially after what happened to Representative Louis Boyard, due to his positions on the Israeli occupation.

Activists and politicians called, through their accounts on social media platforms, for legal protection for Palestine supporters and left-wing activists who are exposed to threats from the extreme right, while others denounced the official silence regarding what Boyard was exposed to.

The day before yesterday, Saturday, a video clip circulated on social media platforms, showing a pro-Israel activist attacking the representative of the “Proud France” movement, Louis Boyard, accusing him of anti-Semitism, before he began directing insults at the representative.

Boyard issued a statement, through his accounts on social media platforms, in which he said that what hurt him about the incident was that the denunciation and anger towards him was less severe than what the far-right French politician Eric Zemmour was subjected to in 2020.

The youngest representative in the French National Assembly reflected on his positions towards the Israeli occupation, and said that what happened to him sums up the policy of double standards in all its meanings, especially between Israeli life and Palestinian life.

“The absence of any sign of institutional support for a parliamentarian who was insulted for several minutes on a train is truly disturbing,” journalist Daniel Schneiderman wrote on his X platform account.

The activist, Noureddine Raymond, said on his account on X, “The spread of constant insults and attacks due to the expression of political opinion must stop. The state must act quickly in a spirit of calm.”

Representative from the “Proud France” party, Thomas Portes, said in previous press statements that Israeli officials are committing “genocide” in the Gaza Strip, and called on his country’s government to impose sanctions on Israel.

On December 18, a number of left-wing representatives in the French capital, Paris, criticized Israel following the killing of an employee in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the aggression on the Gaza Strip, and demanded the imposition of sanctions on Israel.
