Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Thursday that the United States, Britain and their allies are violating the rules of international law by carrying out strikes in Yemen.

Lavrov added: “No one gave permission to any party to bomb Yemen, just as no one gave permission for NATO to bomb Libya in 2011,” stressing that “no one gave these countries these powers, and in doing so they are trampling on the Security Council resolution calling for protecting Yemen.” Commercial shipping.

An American official told Tel Aviv Tribune today that American forces launched new strikes on sites belonging to the Ansar Allah group (Houthis) in Yemen.

On January 13, Agence France-Presse reported, citing local sources, that American aircraft targeted Houthi sites in Hodeidah Governorate, west of the country, in response to a missile fired by the Houthis.

A day before that, the United States and Britain launched more than 150 strikes on more than 30 military sites controlled by the Houthis.

The group said that the raids caused the death and injury of 11 people, vowing a “painful response to America and Britain.”

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that these strikes were carried out by US and British forces in response to the “illegal, dangerous and destabilizing” Houthi attacks.

Since last November, the Houthis have been targeting all commercial ships, Israeli or linked to Israel, that pass through the Red Sea, in solidarity with the Palestinians of Gaza who have been subjected to continuous Israeli aggression since the beginning of last October.

In order to contain these attacks, the United States announced earlier the formation of a force in the Red Sea that includes 10 countries, including an Arab country, Bahrain, as part of what was called Operation “Guardian of Prosperity,” but the Houthi group confirmed that this coalition will not stop its operations.
