The Israeli Channel 7, the mouthpiece of settlers in the occupied West Bank, revealed that the number of disabled people in the army had risen to more than 70,000 for the first time, including 8,663 who were injured after the start of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7.
The channel explained that “the number of disabled soldiers receiving treatment in the rehabilitation departments of the Ministry of Defense reached 70,000 for the first time, after the addition of 8,663 wounded since October 7 and the rest in previous wars.”
She pointed out that “35% of those injured after October 7 are being treated for mental illnesses, compared to 21% of them for physical injuries,” adding that the Rehabilitation Department in the Ministry of Defense is preparing to receive about 20,000 new wounded since the outbreak of the war until the end of 2024.
The Israeli channel stated that data provided by the Israeli Medical Conference “show that more than a thousand new wounded men and women are admitted to the ward every month to receive treatment, and 95% of the wounded are men, about 70% of whom are reserve soldiers, and half of them are between 18 and 18 years old.” And 30 years.”
The channel was based on an analysis conducted by specialists that showed that “about 40% of the wounded who will be admitted to the hospital by the end of the year may face various mental reactions, including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and difficulties in adaptation and communication.”
She said, “Among the approximately 70,000 disabled members of the Israeli army from all regimes who are being treated in the rehabilitation ward, there are 9,539 suffering from mental and post-traumatic reactions.”
The occupation army previously admitted in mid-April that it had disabled “more than two thousand soldiers, policemen, and security personnel since the beginning of its war on the Gaza Strip,” according to what the Walla news website reported from the Institute of Safety and Security affiliated with the Ministry of Labor.
The website added at the time that the percentage of people suffering from sleeping difficulties rose from 18.7% last summer to 37.7%, an increase of 101%. He said, “Reporting of suffering from high stress rose to 43.5% during the war, an increase of about 78%.”
Since October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on Gaza with absolute American support, leaving more than 122,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, which has placed Israel in international isolation and led to its prosecution before the International Court of Justice.
Israel continues its war despite two UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and orders from the International Court of Justice to end the invasion of Rafah, take measures to prevent acts of genocide, and improve the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
