4 members of the Japanese self -defense forces were injured today, Monday, in an explosion in a warehouse to store ammunition inside the US Army’s Kadina Air Force Base in Okinawa.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense said that the explosion occurred while members of the Self -Defense Forces were ready to carry out bombs.
Japanese officials stated that the injuries of the soldiers are not serious, explaining that the explosion occurred while they were working in the warehouse.
According to local officials, no evacuation order was issued to the neighboring residents.
It is noteworthy that the facility inside the Kadina base is used to temporarily storing unexploded ammunition, and Ocenawa includes most of the American military facilities in Japan.
