34 people were arrested Thursday evening in Dublin, during an evening of riots which saw around a hundred people destroy businesses, damage or burn vehicles and attack the police.

The authorities point the finger at the far right. Anti-immigrant chants were heard among the rioters. Some also displayed signs “Irish lives matter” and Irish flags.

The Irish Prime Minister denounced individuals “who brought shame to Dublin, to Ireland, to their families and to themselves“.”The criminals who did this didn’t do it because they love Ireland or want to protect the Irish people, said Leo Varadkar._ They did it because they are filled with hatred.”_

The violence began after the announcement of a knife attack near a school. The attacker injured five people, including three children. A 5-year-old girl is in very serious condition.

The investigation does not currently favor any leads. A man was arrested.
