300 writers in France said that it is the time today to be satisfied with describing what is happening in the Gaza Strip with terror, but rather it must be called “genocide”, in reference to the need to overcome general and mysterious expressions such as “horror” or “atrocities”, and move to a precise and clear designation of what is happening on the ground, which is “genocide.”
They considered that the commitment of silence makes them partners in the crime, stressing the importance of the word in resisting displacement and genocide, calling for sanctions against Israel.
They also demanded: “with an immediate ceasefire, securing justice for the Palestinians, liberating the Israeli hostages, and releaseing thousands of Palestinian prisoners detained arbitrarily in Israeli prisons, and puts an end, without delay, for this genocide whose responsibility bears each of us.”
Signature writers said that since Israel violated the ceasefire, which was supposed to lead to the end of the war and the liberation of the “hostages”, the Israeli army resumed its attacks on Gaza strongly.
Israel resumed the aggression on Gaza on March 18 after it turned against the ceasefire agreement, and its raids since then resulted in the death of more than 3800 people and the injury of about 11,000, according to the Ministry of Health in the Strip.
Silence acknowledgment
The writers said in a letter published by the French newspaper “Leibersion”, “We are the writers and the writers, we are very late in talking with one voice. Some of us signed data and participated in demonstrations, but today we are speaking in the name of our profession, not because the writer’s life is more expensive than others, but because the killing of a writer is a form of censorship and cultural eradication. When a poet is killed, the archive, martyrdom, and memory are killed.
They continued: It is the book of Gaza who mention the world that the Palestinians are not just victims, but real people, noting that the word today is attacked like bodies, and words are blurred as the neighborhoods are blurred.
On May 18, the Israeli army launched a military operation that he called “Gideon’s vehicles”, as part of the ongoing extermination war in the Gaza Strip since October 2023. The new plans include the occupation of the entire sector, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is required for the International Criminal Court for war crimes.
With an American support, Israel has committed since October 7, 2023 genocide crimes in the Gaza Strip, more than 175,000 Palestinians left a martyr and wounded – most of them children and women – and more than 11,000 missing, along with hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
