Today, Saturday, 3 Palestinian factions issued a statement in which they affirmed the legitimacy of the resistance weapons, and considered that the security campaign launched by the National Authority in the occupied West Bank “serves only the Zionist enemy.”
This tripartite statement was signed by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front.
The statement stressed that the resistance weapon is legitimate and “it is not permissible to harm it or target its bearers, including heroes and resistance fighters.”
The three Palestinian factions called on the security services and the leadership of the Authority in Ramallah to distance themselves from any measures that might threaten the unity of the Palestinian position or affect civil peace.
The Palestinian statement added that the resistance weapon is to confront the genocide in Gaza and to confront the occupation’s attacks in the occupied West Bank.
The three factions stressed that preserving Palestinian blood is a top priority and a red line, warning against being drawn into strife. The statement said, “We are following with pain and concern the events in Jenin and its camp and the escalation of the unfortunate campaign by the Authority’s security.”
The statement of Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front added, “We are keen to contain the events in Jenin in a way that preserves Palestinian blood and protects the resistance.”
The factions said that they are following with great pain and great concern the events taking place in the city of Jenin and its camp “through the escalation of the unfortunate security campaign carried out by the authority’s security services.”
Serving the “Zionist enemy”
The three Palestinian factions urged the leadership of the Authority in Ramallah to stop the security campaign in Jenin, “which only serves the Zionist enemy, and to work immediately to withdraw forces and members of the security services from the city and the camp, and lift the siege imposed on them.”
This statement called for the formation of a supreme national committee that includes all components of Palestinian society “to put an end to this current aggression in Jenin and its camp, prevent the spread of these events to other areas, and protect civil and societal peace.”
The three factions said, “In light of the war of extermination and the American-backed Zionist plans, especially in the occupied West Bank, our Palestinian people need a unified position that strengthens their steadfastness and thwarts the occupation’s plans.”
The statement urged the authority in Ramallah to “stop security coordination with the occupation and reject American plans,” give priority to the language of national dialogue, and commit to implementing national consensuses and linking them to a comprehensive resistance program that protects the national project and confronts the occupation’s threats to the land and the Palestinian existence.
This comes in conjunction with renewed clashes between the security forces of the National Authority and resistance fighters in the Jenin camp in the northern occupied West Bank.
The crisis broke out in the Jenin camp after the security services of the Ramallah Authority recently launched a campaign aimed at taking control of the camp, arresting those it described as outlaws and disarming them.
