Targeting exchange companies
Since night, the occupation forces raided a number of money exchange shops throughout the West Bank, arrested a number of their employees, and seized money from them estimated at approximately 10 million shekels ($2.8 million).
This came after Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant issued a decision to classify 5 exchange companies and their branches in the West Bank on terrorist lists.
The Israeli army said that the raids came after a joint investigation it conducted with the Internal Security Agency (Shin Bet), the Ministry of Interior, and the Tax Authority, on suspicion of the involvement of these companies in financing the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and the Islamic Jihad Movement.
Israeli Channel 12 quoted an Israeli security official as saying that the decision to close money exchange shops is part of the broader campaign against Hamas.
The raids included money exchange shops in Jenin, in the northern West Bank, where the occupation forces seized their money. Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent said that the forces were deployed in several areas of the city, and deployed their snipers on the roofs of buildings.
