DR Congo and Zambia bring the first day to a close. Who from the Leopards or the Chipolopolos will win their CAN 2024 Group F match?

Follow the match from 9 p.m. with live commentary, hosted by our colleagues from RFI.

After Morocco, DR Congo is the other big team in Group F. The shock will also have a taste of revenge for the Leopards: the Congolese had failed precisely against the Moroccans in the play-offs of the 2022 World Cup (1 -1/4-1).

But before that, there is Zambia. Surprise winner of CAN 2012 under the direction of Hervé Renard, the “Chipolopolos” fell into line and missed the last three editions.

Former Chelsea coach Avram Grant has revived the “Chipolopolos” (copper balls), but a defeat against modest Niger (2-1) in qualifying for 2026 suggests there is still work to do. He counts in particular on his attacking duo Patson Daka-Fashion Sakala as well as the young winger Lameck Banda.

Coached by Frenchman Sébastien Desabre, DR Congo also missed the last edition of the African Cup. But, with its leaders Chancel Mbemba, Gaël Kakuta and Cédric Bakambu, the DRC hopes to make us forget this pitiful absence.
