Cameroon takes to the field in the 34th African Cup of Nations at the Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro. The Indomitable Lions face Guinea in the toughest group of this preliminary round.
A meeting commented by our colleagues from RFI and to be followed live from 6 p.m. Paris time.
Cameroon enters this first match without its captain, Vincent Aboubakar, victim of a left thigh injury in training. The Indomitable Lions staff, however, ensures that the hero of the 2017 final will be able to play again in the competition.
Group C is considered by many observers as the “group of death” of this CAN 2024 because it includes, in addition to Cameroon and Guinea, Senegal and Gambia. On paper, the two teams with the nickname “Lions” are favorites but the African Cup always has its share of surprises.
In Guinea, coach Kaba Diawara continues the work started at the previous CAN, where he replaced Didier Six just before the tournament, and relies on Serhou Guirassy, the prolific scorer from Stuttgart, and the little prodigy Ilaix Moriba, trained at Barça and currently at Getafe.
