Algeria arrives with revenge. Djamel Belmadi’s men want to make amends for a pitiful CAN-2022. First stage at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké: a match against Angola well within reach, just to start CAN 2024 on a good basis.

Follow the match from 9 p.m. with our live commentary.

Two years after a completely failed African Cup, Algeria remains the favorite in Group D, ahead of Burkina Faso, Mauritania and Angola.

The Fennecs can hardly do worse than the last edition in Cameroon, where they were pitifully eliminated in the first round, last in their group behind Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Sierra Leone. Two months later, they were deprived of the World Cup by Cameroon at the last second in a cruel barrage (1-0/1-2 ap), a heartbreak.

Since then, Djamel Belmadi, in office since 2018, has reworked his group around his pillars, Aïssa Mandi, Youcef Attal, Riyad Mahrez, always with Islam Slimani, Youcef Belaïli or Baghdad Bounedjah.

Opposite, no stars in the modest Angola team: its best player is called “Show”, nickname of Manuel Luis da Silva Cafumana, who plays for Maccabi Haifa. The other problem of the Palancas Negras is its offensive impotence: Angola has had three 0-0s in the fall.
